Temperatures rise unexpectedly during operation.
Hi there, I'm checking in again about the cooler situation. With a 3950x CPU running at idle and streaming, it tends to hit 74°C quite often. The room stays cool enough, but the thermal paste I've used for about two years—IC Diamond 7 Carat—seems to be wearing thin after a fresh application with proper pressure. I'm using an NHD 15s and only one fan in the center, and I've undervolted it by -0.75V. If anyone has tips on improving cooling or maintaining temps during high loads, that would be really helpful. Also, I noticed the temperatures are stable under heavy gaming loads (81°C max) but drop to around 66-71°C when idle.
Sure, setting profiles for various tasks is key. Do you have a 3950x?
I own 3900X. Previously, I used a Noctua NH-U12A cooler and had to tweak the fan curve to avoid excessive speed changes whenever I opened something, preventing unnecessary temperature jumps. Now I’m using the Liquid Freezer II 360, and while temperature spikes still occur, my peak temperatures at full load are significantly lower.
okay I will do that thanks for the info glad that my chip is running fine. So far the performance is amazing. I've been ryzen sense gen 1 and I've been happy with everyone. Gen 1 meaning zen 1 not early years.
