Hey everyone, I'm facing a bit of a challenge. After replacing my power supply (the old one had a dying fan), my motherboard shows 127°C on two sensors. It's not ideal if something else starts to develop—especially since the fans are now running at full speed and it's getting quite loud. I think there might be an issue with the probes, but I'm not sure where to check. I have an MSI Z97 gaming PC with an i5 4690K and three case fans directly connected to the motherboard. Thanks in advance for your help!

Can you adjust the VRM cooling fins close to the CPU without risking injury? If not, the readings could be reliable. Have you modified the CPU settings (voltage adjustments)? What new power supply did you install? Which temperature sensors are providing these measurements? Were you customizing the fan speed profile?

Hi there, Applefreak. The VRMs seem to be running low on heat. I changed the CPU but even then the fans are getting louder. I swapped out my old 650W power supply for a Corsair RM850—hopefully I can switch the MB/CPU later. The temperature readings showing 127°C are from the TMPIN5 and 8 sensors in HWMonitor.

The display shows the sensor value directly without any additional processing. For more details, check these links: - https://forums. - https://forums. - https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/co...r_and_why/

Yes, but the real problem isn't the temperature displayed, it's that I can't control my fans anymore... no matter what I do, they always go 100% (real value, not the value present in HWMonitor or event in MSI command center.

No, I haven't changed the fan speed in the BIOS.

It operates consistently at 60% regardless of temperature changes. For the CPU, the performance curve is fine-tuned, and the fan speed adjusts in response.

In the BIOS fan settings, expect two checkboxes—one for CPU and another for system temperature. Ensure both are enabled. If they're active, detach the fans from the system profile and restart.
