When adjusting my bios settings, idle temperatures rose from 33-43 to 45-60. Disabling Core Performance Boost reduced heat but also cut performance. Re-enabling it brings higher temps and better speed, though sometimes it jumps to 80 degrees with no apps open—especially when Discord and Spotify are running. Fans get loud during spikes. My temps stayed stable when Core Performance was off, but I applied thermal paste differently to ensure good spread. Now that it’s on, idle temps hit 80, which is bad for the CPU and bothers me. No need for advanced BIOS tweaks—just keep an eye on cooling and app usage.

Ryzen processors are often associated with these performance fluctuations. Running multiple applications isn’t truly idle. You might want to experiment with different fancurves and remove any third-party control software—even things like Ryzen Master. Consider switching to Eco Mode or performing a full BIOS reset to get a fresh start. Just be sure the idle setting isn’t too low, as that can trigger the spikes.

You might also consider using an air cooler. There may be a problem with your aio.

The issue might not be the aio cooler itself, since CPB was disabled and no spikes occurred—everything seems fine.

I’ll definitely try resetting the BIOS settings. Ignore the fact that opening Discord and Spotify counts as idle—what matters is that JavaScript isn’t running anything heavy except Wallpaper Engine. Even then, I’ve had CPU usage stay high for a year without any problems. The settings aren’t extreme, and I don’t have Ryzen Master or any third-party tools installed. Does iCue work?

Replace the AIO, check if you used thermal paste or took off the shielding film from the copper head.

I also attempted a BIOS reset, but now it jumps to 70 instead of 80 unpredictably, especially during idle moments when I’m not actively using the system.
