Hi there, I understand you're just starting with computers and want to figure out why your system keeps shutting down unexpectedly. Based on what you've shared, your CPU temperatures are getting very high—around 90°C or more—while using only a small amount of power. You've already tried several fixes like changing the thermal paste, checking the cooler installation, reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, and clearing dust. Since those didn't help much, let's look deeper. It could be that your cooling system isn't delivering enough heat or there might be an issue with the fan operation. Also, ensure your power supply is stable and not causing voltage drops. If you're still experiencing high temps after these steps, it might be worth checking the cooler's fan speed settings or testing with a different cooler model.

First, I’d assume the protective coating remains in place on the cooler. It’s possible the cooler was set up incorrectly, which might be visible through uneven thermal paste application; having a photo of the paste spread would be useful.

It functioned properly before, so it’s likely the protective layer was removed correctly. I used a bit more paste than displayed in the photos and applied it twice. The first application had slightly more product than shown, while the second ran out, leaving no room for additional thermal paste. Despite this, temperatures stayed consistent, making it unclear if the issue lies elsewhere.

It seems the cooler is only making contact on one side, leaving the other side with poor alignment. This might indicate uneven installation or issues with the mounting brackets. Be sure to tighten both screws evenly—turn each screw once and then again in sequence.

Insufficient adhesive and inconsistent clamping. Verify mounting brackets are placed accurately and that all attaching points are at the same height. The AM4 standoffs could be a different elevation compared to the Intel kit—this uncertainty might lead to compatibility problems if mixed. Apply paste using four small dots near the corners and a larger grain in the center. During installation, gently twist the cooler on either side as it makes contact. Secure it by turning one side halfway and then the opposite side halfway. Continue until it feels hand-tight on both sides. I own the NHC12, which is essentially the smaller sibling of this model.

What changed this time? I re-applied the thermal paste and adjusted the screws individually, but the temperature remains above 95. Attached are photos of the updated area. Are the mounts still misaligned? Could there be excess paste involved?
