It might be a bad sensor, but swapping the CPU cooler is more affordable than getting a new CPU, motherboard, or reapplying thermal paste.
You installed a liquid cooler and verified its settings in BIOS regarding power consumption or RPM estimates for the AIO pump. Initially, you suspected the pump might be failing, assuming proper placement of the cold plate and good thermal interface material (TIM). You’re unlikely to blame the power supply unit unless other signs point there.
I'm logging in now and the temperature stays between 45-55 degrees, constantly shifting. The fan speeds vary widely from 950 to 1500 RPM. Suddenly, the fans increased to 950 RPM and the temperature rose to 63 degrees at 1800 RPM.
Do you need an alternative cooler for testing? It might be the pump that’s not fully failing, or there could be an issue with how the motherboard/CPU manages power. The PSU might not provide enough power for the system to handle it properly.
