Hello Everyone, I recently installed a Thredripper 3970X workstation and noticed unusually high idle temperatures, often swinging between 56 and 62°C. During a 60-second Cinebench R20 test, the peak reached 88-89°C. These values are quite high, but the idle temps are what worry me. I'm using a Noctua U14S TR4 cooler in single fan mode. The motherboard is an MSI Creator TRX40. I'm not sure if this is due to a faulty chip or just excessive analysis. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards, Hardik

Threadripper could be a high-performance CPU, but poor cooling might affect it.

I've noticed comparable temperatures during open bench tests too. It's currently installed in a Define R7 XL. Just wanted to check if I should be concerned about the idle temperatures. Everything appears to be functioning properly so far.

You can test a few adjustments to improve cooling. Apply thermal paste, then check the case’s airflow. If temperatures change noticeably, the cooling system may be faulty.
