hi all, i know that there is an issue with ILM bending cpu, but i removed my cooler and the paste spread seems fine,i have msi 360 aio with 1700 lga bracket. temp on idle from 45-60c , and when i run modded minecraft shoots up to 90s C. i reapplied thermal paste and still same issue, starting to think there is a software bug or something , performance monitor shows cpu usage < 40%. what made me think this could be software is that under the same load sometimes after a while it goes down to 65-80c latest bios for z690 carbon wifi, windows 11 if that helps. you can see idle temps and startup programs, even with ac running motherboard led shows temp 99c but radiator fans out flow and case air are cold..

The MSI CoreLiquid 360R has been recalled due to frequent failures. It’s possible this is your situation too. @GuiltySpark_ I suspect you might have another unit.

Besides the AIO recall, it looks like a bit more thermal paste would be helpful. It seems a little too thin. Which case are you using, OP?

This quantity of separation is acceptable; the issue is this AIO has been recalled. Such occurrences have happened multiple times before, clearly and simply.

This will become my lasting impact. The person who spotted the pattern in MSI AIO failures before they were officially confirmed. That’s fine with me.

Based on the visible paste and absence of spreading in the lower corner, it seems the pressure wasn’t sufficient. A pump issue would likely cause more noticeable problems than the current temperatures.

Hello everyone, thanks for your responses. I own an ASUS TUF case GT501 (link provided). It has three front fans and an AIO cooler on top. The liquid is Coreliquid 360 R, but the AIO was recently recalled. When checking my serial number, it says it doesn’t qualify. I hear noise every time I start up, probably from the fans. I felt one tube hotter than the other. I re-applied paste with a small spatula and did it thoroughly—still no changes. The BIOS isn’t updated, and even the RAM XMP settings aren’t working. It’s been frustrating, especially since I’ve regretted buying this model. Thanks for your help!

Hi, your reapply worked better this time. You applied as much pressure as needed and checked the bracket stands—nothing seems to be wrong. How much paste really works depends on technique; some use pea or dot methods, others go with two lines. I noticed people sometimes use a lot of paste and spread it evenly. It looks like the pump might be failing despite being four months old, or maybe the cooler doesn’t fit properly. Could it be related to software issues? Sometimes temperatures drop unexpectedly even when conditions are stable.

There’s nothing excessive, it all comes down to how much you wish to tidy up. (That kind of mess is beyond cleaning...)

It's tough cleaning, that's why I use only a little and avoid spills. I'm planning to reapply a bit more with the MX-4 non-conductive paste and see how it goes. Thanks for the feedback!
