While playing games I've seen my CPU reaching up to 85 degrees, which feels quite warm. Is this normal or should I be concerned? The fan is also running pretty loud. Since I'm not very experienced with computers, I'd rather avoid replacing the cooler, especially if I need to remove the motherboard. My machine is a Lenovo Legion T5 (28IMB05). The specifications are: I5-10400f, RTX 2070, 16GB RAM.
Consider swapping the stock Intel cooler—it works fine but isn’t the best. A $20–30 cooler that fits your case would make a big difference in keeping things quieter and cooler. My wife uses an i7-8700, which is pretty similar to your i5-10400f, and I got an Arctic Freezer 33 for her. It’s really quiet and stylish. An option like the off-brand Snowman would also be great if noise bothers you.
My situation seems similar, but I don't have the glass side panel. The interior appears identical. However, without the LED lights.
Pop off the other panel and see if it has a cutout near the socket, and how big it is. If you get enough space like the above photo, you should be fine to install most normal coolers. I would think all PC cases have these cutouts, but with OEMs i guess it helps to make sure.
It seems I’ll need to manage the stock cooler despite its loudness.
