Hi there. I've been observing spikes on Windows lately, especially when using the NZXT Cam for CPU monitoring. Temperatures jump from about 45°C to 71°C during simple tasks like opening apps or typing in Discord. To check if my thermal performance is off, I ran Cinebench MC and got a score of 17662. The temperature reading from the NZXT Cam matched what I saw on the monitor—84-86°C. This is odd because others with similar builds don’t reach such low temps, even with weaker or identical AIO coolers. Here’s my PC specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SyndicateB...iew=XLWdqs. In short, I have a 7800x3D GPU cooled by an Arctic Freezer ii 360 AIO in an optimized NZXT H9 case. If anyone has tips to fix this, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
Here’s the AIO setup you might need:
- Check the connection and ensure everything is seated correctly.
- Repaste the cable onto your AIO block.
- Verify the cable is firmly attached to your motherboard.
I understand, correct? My AIO is set for blow/exhaust mode inside my H9 Flow case. The side fans are on the intake side, bottom fans on intake, and the back fan is outtake. My AIO only had two connectors—three-pin A-RGB and a four-pin PWM connector. I connected this last one to the CPU_FAN port instead of its original spot, thinking it would fit well since the pump area seemed accessible. I also reattached and rewired the cooler, but it didn’t help.
The situation changes a lot and happens very fast. Generally it's about 45, but it can rise to around 71 if I don't interact with the computer or start typing.
Great setup! I share the same CPU and motherboard as yours, but I’m opting for a tower-style cooler. The CPU_FAN or SYS_FAN4 settings should work well with your AIO since both support up to 24W. When idle, temperatures hover around 45°C, and reaching about 71°C during light tasks is unusual. You might want to adjust the radiator fan in the GCC app to check if it helps. It may not make a big difference. Possible reasons for overheating include:
1. The clear plastic covering on your AIO that touches the CPU isn’t removed—it can hinder heat dissipation.
2. Your AIO might be faulty; Arctic has acknowledged defective units and offers replacement parts or refunds based on your location. You can verify your model’s production batch (March 2021–March 2022). If you’ve used an Arctic AIO for over a year, the gasket issue could impact cooling performance.

Hello! The new cooler you just installed sounds exciting. I’m curious—would it make sense to return the AIO, or might another problem be causing the issue?
