Temperature warning for i7 9700k, please assist.
today i purchased an i7 9700k without overclocking or adjusting the voltage. everything is stock and it's being cooled by noctua nh u12. however, when running prime95 it reaches 100 degrees. help! what should i do?
It seems you're checking if your CPU setup is correct. The 9700K is a high-end processor, so if you're unsure about the purchase, double-check the specifications and ensure everything matches your needs.
Prime95 isn't a typical example, so I'd treat those readings cautiously. It leans toward extreme situations. Keep an eye on your temperatures during heavy tasks like gaming or video encoding. If they stay under 80 degrees, it should be fine.
run tests on blender, cinebench r20, and real games like hitman 2 with full performance. monitor CPU speed using hwinfo and keep it below 1.25x for the u12s. ensure stability across different workloads.
It's common to experience issues, but checking the system can help determine if the problem lies with the CPU or another component.
It's typical, I don't always run the p95 FFT on my chip. Anything above 4.9 usually reaches 100°C, which would mean I could be running at 1.2V with 4.8GHz on a D15. In reality, I usually run it at 5.1 every day and it never gets that hot under normal conditions. That's just my opinion—@mateyyy might have a different perspective, which is more common. You shouldn't worry; it's not a bad chip, and 100°C on prime is what I'd expect.
What does that mean? Prime 95 puts a heavy demand on the CPU using AVX instructions, but 100C handles it without issues. No concerns here.
I turned off AVX in Prime95 during a stress test. The CPU ran at about 4.6 GHz, reaching up to an average of 88 and occasionally hitting 90. Is this typical?
