I own a ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022) equipped with an Intel i9 12900H and an RTX 3070ti. About a year ago, the CPU began to heat up noticeably. I visited a store to check if ASUS's warranty could help, but they confirmed the temperatures were normal. Approximately three months later, the issue worsened—idle temps reached around 90°C. I attempted cleaning fans and vents, updated all software, and even reworked the laptop with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut, but it still overheats during idle. The gaming performance dropped drastically, with stuttering and frame drops when playing games. The GPU cooling system works well, rarely exceeding 60°C and staying around 40°C at idle. I’m struggling to figure out what to do next. I’ve attached a screenshot of my Armoury Crate at idle for reference.

It depends on your BIOS settings and the software you're using. Some systems allow idle modes at higher temperatures, while others require a specific window or configuration to activate cooling features. Check your manual or manufacturer guidelines for details.

The heatsink connects to the CPU via mounting points and applies pressure to ensure good thermal contact. To increase pressure, consider using stronger clamps or adjusting the alignment for better grip.

Have you resolved the issue? I purchased a cooling pad that reduces GPU heat but doesn’t affect the CPU. I’m unsure what’s causing the problem.
