Temperature readings rising sharply.
Hello, I’m experiencing concerns about my CPU getting too hot again. Despite having water cooling, strong fans, and proper thermal paste, the temperatures have risen significantly. After fixing the fan setup and applying new paste, the problem returned but with a different pattern. When the PC starts up, it quickly spikes to around 100°C during intense tasks like gaming, then drops to about 70°C afterward. This fluctuation worries me because it wasn’t as consistent five months ago. I suspect it might not be a sensor fault—my system is already struggling with slow performance. It could be that the CPU was damaged from earlier issues, or even something unusual like a short Bitcoin mining virus. I’ve noticed the PC shutting down sometimes when watching YouTube. As a quick workaround, I turn it off for 10 minutes and restart; afterward the temps stay in a similar range but are still playable. I’m not rich, so replacing it isn’t an option, but if I could, I’d appreciate some advice within a £100 budget. Thanks for reading, Henry (Progue).
Join the discussions! It seems the application wasn't done properly. Remove the cooler, capture an image of the existing paste, wipe away the old layer, spread fresh paste, and secure it correctly.
