Unlike typical adjustments, this involved a larger leap—about 10 times higher. If it had hit 99°C for the CPU temperature, it wouldn’t have throttled properly (the TM function was active at the maximum setting in BIOS). This suggests the readings are misleading, possibly due to sensor errors or calibration issues. The core temperature seems normal, but the difference between the two is significant. Right now, stress testing a 4.1GHz OC on an e5300 at around 1.45V is causing discomfort. It looks like a decent Wolf 2M model, especially compared to other CPUs that barely boot at 3.8GHz under similar conditions. My previous failures with E5700 CPUs are notable since they booted at 3.8GHz at 1.35V while this one runs at 3.9GHz. The profiles I moved from my P5Q indicate I’m reselling it for a profit, as I don’t need to overclock the board further. There’s also a 3.74GHz, 3.9GHz, and 4.1GHz profile that seems to work well here. This problem also occurred with my P5Q when I changed profiles; using different CPUs like E8400 works fine, while the core temp stays close to the CPU temp (±3°C). I didn’t overlook BIOS modifications for this new P5Q—saved the original OS because it’s an older version not available on the official site.
I use it to manage my server fan on the CPU cooler because otherwise it would just sound like a blowdryer. Since I already have realtemp installed, I’ll also check that. If it doesn’t throttle at 100°C, temperatures should be okay though a bit high. I didn’t install the W7 update that enables hwinfo since I kept trying but it failed. I’m probably going to need a new ISO, but I’m not eager to search for a site with a broken W7 Ultimate ISO. No W10, and I don’t want to deal with constant bloat, though I might look into Revive OS as it seems to work well despite being bloated.
I think these Pentiums aren't soldered, so I'll have to desolder it myself. I'm pretty sure I won't need a desoldering tool, so I probably won't. It should only run at about 1.35 volts, though I doubt anyone selling it will have a cooler that can handle 1.45 volts. Running at 100°C shouldn't be an issue below 1.4 volts. I do have a temperature sensor and wanted to test it, but it looks like I might need to spray the socket because something is shorting. I'll wait until it dries before purchasing a DS3R. I should check the voltage settings at FSB—it seems weak power might be the problem. If I can fix it with BIOS reprogramming and submerging it in water, then I'll buy an X5260 + RX, a pump, extra tubing, and zip ties to finish my custom waterloop. I plan to run 4.8 volts or higher.
