Temperature reached 113 degrees.
Hello everyone, I searched for my issue online but couldn't find anyone with the same problem. My CPU is getting too hot to 113 and then shutting down. Initially, I thought it was the power supply, so I replaced it. That didn’t fix it. I cleaned all the thermal paste from the CPU and the cooler, and even swapped out the cooler, which helped a bit but still caused overheating. I re-applied the paste and thought maybe I wasn’t thorough enough. Now I’m worried the new cooler might be faulty. The cooler I have is showing high temperatures on the top tube and red line areas, while the bottom stays cool. Any suggestions or clues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The situation involves numerous factors: fan settings, case limitations on airflow, mounting pressure, cooling system, thermal paste condition and quality, CPU usage, whether the CPU is faulty, and more. You'll need to systematically eliminate each one.
It's an iBUYPOWER Slate MONO MR ARGB Tempered Glass Gaming Case. I've never had an issue with this computer in the two years that I've had it until now (other than the occasional blue screen from bad Windows updates. I've never touched the bios (other than to update it), never touched anything in the case other than RAM and cleaning, and I've never overclocked it. I currently have the new cooler fans at the top of the case, but the old one was connected to the case fans on the right. I've tried tightening the cooler to very tight and then to slightly tight, but made no difference. I used brand new Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Paste. Here's a pic of my core temp when TRYING to load up Call of Duty, and also my underperforming CPU in task manager.
