Hey there! I've noticed my CPU temperatures have been consistently high lately, something I only realized is an issue recently. When under stress, it hits 95°C and the throttling kicks in. I've refreshed the thermal paste, tweaked power settings for Ryzen CPUs, and used balanced configurations, but the temps still climb to that level. I think the problem might lie with my case and fans. My front fan is an intake at 140mm, the radiator fan is 120mm, and the rear exhaust is also 120mm. I'm using the older N500 case, and my GPU is undervolted with temperatures in a safe range. I'm hoping I can avoid replacing the case and instead get some 120mm Arctic P12 Silent fans—specifically two front intake, one back exhaust, and one rear exhaust. My motherboard seems to manage only a few fans, so I might need a splitter. The PC is clean of dust, and Windows feels fresh after a recent install. OS version: Windows 10 Pro; case model: N500 KKN2; CPU: Ryzen 7 3800XT (not overclocked); cooler: AeroCool Core plus. There are better options out there, but I'm worried about hitting those 95°C limits.

Radiator looks quite modest compared to what you expect. Even a cheap cooler from Aliexpress might keep things around 10-15°C cooler, but I wouldn’t suggest it either.

It seems the AeroCool Core plus isn't doing enough to keep up with the Ryzen 7 3800XT's performance. The question highlights that the cooler is average and the CPU is quite powerful. Are you referring to typical gameplay or maximum load conditions?

During Cinebench the CPU peaks at 95 C in just 10 seconds. The reading changes depending on the game, but it often approaches or hits 95, even without maximum load. I’d note it stays around 85 C even during relaxed gaming sessions.

Cinebench pushes the CPU to its limits and observing throttling with the AeroCool Core Plus on a 3800XT isn’t unexpected. This cooler isn’t built for such high demands on a hot chip. It’s unlikely it will handle the 3800XT well under heavy use. To achieve better temperatures, you should upgrade the CPU cooler or consider adding another 120mm front fan.

It’s impossible to make that R7 3800XT work well with that cooler.

You might find the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L V2 to be a solid option for budget-friendly cooling without breaking the bank.

Looking for an AIO instead of a premium air cooler? They come with a higher chance of breaking down eventually. I owned a Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L, but it didn’t meet my expectations—loud fans, rattling noises after a year, and it felt like a budget item. I received it free when I bought a CPU.

Another option offers lower costs while maintaining similar temperatures to a 240mm AIO.

This would likely be similar in size or slightly smaller than your current AeroCool model. The GPU is positioned near the cooler, matching its dimensions.
