It was a bit unusual with no downloads or uploads at 12:35pm PST, meaning it wasn’t the busiest time. I’m billed for 150mbps, which feels similar to what I’ve experienced over the past six months. Clearly, I’ll be moving back to the dreaded Shaw service next week. Although Shaw was bad, they did meet the advertised speeds. In fact, my typical download speed with Shaw’s 25mbps plan a few years ago matches my current rate with Telus—about one-sixth or one-seventh of the cost. To be fair, my average data usage is in the low 20s, so I’m getting roughly 1/6 to 1/7 of what I pay for. This isn’t unusual for Telus, though my situation might be among the worst in Metro Vancouver.

Currently I’m receiving 820 Mbps down and 660 Mbps up via Telus, with no slowdowns even during busy times. Are you using fiber? What tools do you use to check speed? Would you like me to try testing with fast.com? (After the download test finishes, click 'Show more info' for the upload test)

I'm still on fiber. I haven't reached 35mbps download speeds before. Back then, with Shaw, I was getting around 75mbps, and my downloads were usually in the high 70s. Right now, I'm only getting about 15mbps upload at this Friday night time. That's quite surprising.

It's not great. I'd consider these steps: 1) Check if IPv6 is active and disable it to see if it improves things. IPv6 routing is still better than IPv4 but shouldn't change much. 2) Connect a PC straight to the ONT and test again to eliminate router problems. 3) Use another PC with a different cable to confirm the issue isn't with the NIC or cable. If both give similar results, contact Telus or switch providers.

Issue resolved, moved to Shaw 300. It's manageable at 7:50 PM on a weekday with the 1080p WAN broadcast already playing.
