Tell me which FPS game you enjoyed playing in 2008!
Back in 2008 I played a FPS with my cousin. It was a desert-themed game where we were soldiers using tanks, aiming to capture points (about six). I’m not sure if the characters were NPCs or real people. The name is unclear—I don’t remember it well. I thought it might be a battlefield game, but it wasn’t. I can’t ask my cousin anymore since he’s passed away. Thanks for reading!
Desert Combat added a strong boost to Winning Games and Capture Points. It felt like a major improvement over the standard version, almost matching a 'Total Conversion Mod' in quality.
I still recall playing the game, though it didn't turn out well.
It seems to be a mix of eras—modern or WWII vibes, close to the original CoD or CoD 2 style.
Finding areas feels similar to Battlefield. CoD titles didn't feature that mode before CoD4, I believe. Delta Force games came out before 2008, and Operation Flashpoint followed later. It’s probably BF1942 DC, or maybe a multiplayer map from BF2. There were some big desert maps like Road to Jalalabad and Highway Tampa, possibly even the Gulf of Oman. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have been a BF2 mod since only Project Reality really emerged then. On other mods, original Insurgency might have been popular around that time.
Under the aliases ArmA or ArmA:Combat Operations, based on your location. If you couldn't move and quickly reload your rifle, this might be what happened.
