I am preparing a shared storage solution between my Windows 10 desktop and laptop using the recommended method. In the highlighted section, you’re encountering trouble with the third point when entering your username and password. It seems the system is rejecting it because the two devices are linked to separate Microsoft accounts. If this is the situation, you’ll need to resolve account linkage before proceeding. Also, please confirm whether this issue should be addressed in the networking section so I can assist promptly.

You must provide the login details for the machine hosting the share. Alternatively, include "everyone" in the user list to bypass the password requirement. If you're unable to access the screen, let me know so I can assist further.

You mentioned moving to Networking and reminded yourself to enter the user or password from the shared device.

Confirm the drive must be connected to the actual desktop. I'm attempting to use the laptop's credentials to access it, so I should include the laptop details in the permission settings even though "everyone" has full control.

This method offers a solution by default, preventing the need to input credentials each time. However, you're not obligated to use this approach; what matters most is supplying a valid username and password on your local machine before attempting remote access.
