Hello everyone, just got a fresh keyboard and the computer keeps freezing after using it. It’s a SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 model—any suggestions on the issue or possible fixes?

It seems quite unusual. Try using another keyboard and stopping SteelSeries programs. If issues persist, consider removing and reinstalling the keyboard's drivers.

It seems the problems persist even when using another keyboard and SteelSeries software is disabled. It likely isn't the keyboard itself causing the crashes. When your PC stops working, the actual cause would be related to the system or software issues.

Just to confirm everyone understands, even after switching to a different keyboard, your PC still freezes. It seems the problem began with the new keyboard but persists even when you’re not using it. Have you tried removing the Steelseries GG app and all keyboards, then testing with just the mouse? Also, how often does this freezing happen? Does it occur randomly, or is it mostly during gaming? At this stage, it might point to a hardware or software problem. If the keyboard is the culprit, check the USB port—try another port on the motherboard. If you have multiple USB devices, remove them one by one and see if the issue persists. Use only the back USB port, preferably USB 2.0 instead of USB 3.0 or higher. If it stops freezing, test plugging in your keyboard and other peripherals individually. Also, open Device Manager to look for any error messages related to the keyboard or USB devices. Examine the Event Viewer for any warnings. Determine whether the issue started after installing drivers or apps, as sometimes updates can cause conflicts. Finally, ensure your motherboard’s BIOS is up to date and your Windows and other drivers are current. For budget models, using all available USB ports might be necessary if the board can’t handle it.

it occurs when using a different keyboard, I haven’t unplugged everything or performed a system reset, and the issue keeps happening. This leads me to believe there may be a hardware problem. I also tried adjusting USB ports, but the problem remains only during intense gaming sessions, suggesting a potential overheating concern.

The built-in window reset feature rarely resolves issues and isn't a reliable troubleshooting method. It's usually not worth trying. Share your experience after disconnecting all USB devices except the essential ones.
