What laptop are you using? Is it equipped with a 10/100 Ethernet port or does it support gigabit connectivity? If it offers gigabit, then a dongle won’t help much. If it only has 10/100, then yes, a dongle could improve performance. Keep in mind, though, that speed also depends on your overall network setup and the service agreement with your ISP.

The laptop already supports gigabit Ethernet, so using a USB dongle won't add any advantage.
