Here we are again with another Call of Duty release, and what a twist—it’s just another example of the increasing "Body-hacking" trend. Take the night vision specialists, for instance. This game is set in 2065 and explores how ordinary people can access technology, though the military still maintains secret elite operatives. My main goal is to see if story mode will address the ethics behind body hacking and its consequences, rather than just pushing buttons for emotional impact. I hope it moves beyond a simple "Press X to feel bad" narrative. It should offer something more meaningful, like a gritty "Super soldier f*ck yeah."
I believed the storyline was similar to Deus Ex... probably not alone: check out these links for more details.
It was a really cool trailer. Activision definitely has a knack for creating engaging trailers for their titles. If this manages to convey the playful spirit of CODAW, I might consider getting it someday—maybe during one of Target’s holiday promotions offering free games with purchases.
I’m excited about the direction of the story. The only other series I’ve explored in this kind of tech debate is Deus-Ex. While some might say they’re just copying Deus-Ex, as an FPS and the way the progression is shown here really intrigues me, I’ve enjoyed every COD narrative from Activision and Treyarch so far. Modern Warfare and Advanced Warfare stand out to me. I’m not interested in MP anymore—it hasn’t been enjoyable since MW2. I’m eager to see how it develops and can try it out right away.
