You're weighing a CPU with extra cores versus fewer but more capable ones. Since the project focuses mainly on performance beyond storage, prioritize the number of cores that match your workload needs.

Only the TS server is being executed. No additional tasks are running.

Teamspeak servers consume minimal energy, making them efficient to run. I can easily host a 10-person server on a VPS with just one weak CPU core and 512MB of RAM without much strain on the system.

Single threaded design with minimal resource usage—effectively negligible impact even when other processes run concurrently on the same thread.

They take what works best or uses less energy. I manage a 32-person Teamspeak server on a quad-core chip without any issues... definitely.

Is a G1840 sufficient? It would be the most affordable option, though it might not meet your needs if you're expecting an 860k model.

Absolutely, just for the TS server. Doing heavy tasks at the same time can really mess up performance and cause problems like no rendering or editing.

It's exactly what I was aiming for—getting some processing power and timely downtime off my tired Sandy i5. I'm also trying to cut down on noise by getting rid of those pesky HDDs from my room. If I ever think about upgrading, I'll toss the motherboard along with the old computer in a grandma's PC. Thanks everyone!
