Seeking suggestions for games akin to the Conflict Desert Storm series, featuring squad-based gameplay since 2001. Notable titles include "Warhammer 40k: War of the Worlds" and "Total War: Warhammer 40k," both offering tactical depth and team coordination.

The likely style is a tactical shooter genre, possibly CMIIW reference.

Damn, that's a long time since I've heard that. I really enjoyed that game back then. For singleplayer, the Ghost Recon series was great, especially the earlier titles up to Advanced Warfighter 2—those were tougher than Conflict Desert Storm and 1st person. The newer games are more relaxed, with Wildlands and Future Soldier being the only ones worth checking out. Rainbow Six series had a lot of options before Rainbow Six Siege, which was also more intense and in first person. SWAT4 was similarly hardcore, plus ARMA series too. In co-op, the ARMA series is really challenging, especially 1st and 3rd person modes like Insurgency and Sandstorm. Multiplayer in ARMA is also tough, with 1st and 3rd person options. Vietnam in Rising Storm 2 is another hardcore, first-person experience.

For the 'squad' segment of Desert Storm, you might also check Star Wars: Republic Commando. It's quite old, yet it shared a comparable vibe with single-player/squad-style shooting mechanics.

Are there others ready to join, or do you prefer starting alone?

I favor offline single-player mode.
