TDP decreases during memory overclocking
Hello,
I’ve been increasing the overclock and overvoltage of my card, but I encountered an unusual problem. During benchmarking, the TDP drops slightly after about a minute, which results in around a 25% drop in FPS. The clock speeds remain unchanged except for the memory controller load, which affects the TDP: it only occurs when changing from +450mhz to +500mhz or higher, even with +100mv memory voltage. I can run smoothly at +650mhz without any issues until it throttles, and after that I suspect the clock instability. Temperatures stay consistently below 75°C.
My card is a Gigabyte GTX 760 WindForce X3 rev. 2.
I also adjusted TDP, power target, and several power settings in BIOS, but it didn’t help.
Do you think there’s a cause for this and how to resolve it?
What standards are these? Are they relevant during gameplay? I wonder since benchmarks can intentionally slow down your graphics card.
