I recently changed my CPU from an i3-6100 to an i7-7700k on a B150M-A D3 motherboard. I updated the BIOS and purchased DDR3L 1.35V RAM (the only compatible option for my CPU and board), so everything seems technically fine. However, the issue remains: every time I power on my PC, the disk fills up to 100% in the taskbar, and this lasts about ten minutes before dropping again when idle. During intense tasks like gaming, both my CPU and disk reach 100%, causing noticeable lag—sometimes dropping to just 4-5 FPS, which is far from normal with my old setup. I’ve reinstalled GPU drivers multiple times, and in games such as Overwatch, For Honor, and League of Legends everything works fine. My CPU stays around 45% during those sessions, which is unusual compared to my previous CPU but still functional. My average CPU temp is between 40-45°C. I recently added a cooler and thermal paste, so I’m not sure that’s the cause. The CPU runs at its standard speed (4.2 GHz) without overclocking. Recently, I’ve noticed my PC sometimes shuts off and restarts on its own, even though I ran antivirus scans and found nothing suspicious. •What should I do next? Have I tried all the advice online, and did it help? Should I reinstall Windows, or could that work? If I revert to using my old CPU, will it return to normal? Specs: I7-7700k, Cooler Master Hyper 212, B150M-A D3, GAGABYTE GTX1050TI, 16GB DDR3L 1.35V RAM, 1TB HDD (half full), EVGA 500W bronze PSU

You notice your hard drive seems to be running Windows at full speed all the time. There might be applications that aren’t responding well, so a fresh Windows install could help. Consider replacing the existing drive with an SSD—available on Amazon for around $30 for 240GB—and try installing Windows there. If you recently adjusted BIOS settings, clearing CMOS and restoring it to default may resolve any issues related to core or hyperthreading settings.

Review your post to confirm the steps you took before the issue occurred. The problem might be unrelated to the ACPI bug.
