On my Ryzen 1700 machine the login process became unstable, and after applying all possible fixes I realized the user profile was severely damaged. This led to the start menu failing to function. I created a fresh profile, which resolved the issue. Previously, this problem had occurred during aggressive overclocking/benching, so I attributed it to that and dismissed it. Recently, I've encountered difficulties launching Chrome on my 6700k system. This has been ongoing for about two and a half years, with only minor adjustments capped at around 4.2 GHz. Currently, I lack concrete proof whether the issue stems from Windows or Chrome itself. The Chrome shortcut remains pinned to the taskbar but occasionally fails to load. Checking Task Manager shows numerous inactive instances with no actionable results. Terminating them all sometimes restarts the process. I've tried various solutions, but nothing guarantees success. The most promising options are launching Chrome directly from the executable in Program Files or enabling Windows 8 compatibility mode. Neither solution is a definitive fix. A reboot usually helps, though it’s impractical since background tasks often run continuously. This situation might also indicate user profile corruption. I prefer my current setup despite its quirks, having invested years in custom configurations. Switching systems isn’t an option for me. Firefox and Edge still function adequately, but their interfaces don’t appeal to me.
