I just set up a new Z87 rig with a 4670k clocked to 4.5ghz and 16GB RAM from Corsair rated at 1866MHz. After turning on XMP, most tools say it’s running at 1866MHz. But Task Manager shows 1333MHz—what’s going on? I’m curious how to adjust RAM timings and XMP settings, but sometimes the display jumps between 1400MHz and back to 1333MHz. Any ideas?

If you adjusted the BIOS to 1866MHz, it might be due to an issue in version 8.1.

Don't stress, everything is working properly. The problem lies in how Windows collects RAM details and CPU performance. Task Manager improvements in 8.1 helped some issues, though not completely. I hope 8.2 brings more fixes. It seems Microsoft was focused heavily on optimizing Windows 8.1 for smaller screens, trying to balance desktop, tablet, and laptop experiences while making adjustments for better performance on lower-end devices. There might also be delays due to ongoing changes the company is managing. That's just my interpretation.
