Talk to AM4 or invest in the extra for AM5?
Talk to AM4 or invest in the extra for AM5?
I’m considering an upgrade for my existing setup:
Ryzen 5 5600X
Gigabyte A520M DS3H
I’m thinking about switching to:
Ryzen 7 5800X3D
ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Wifi
Or
Ryzen 7 7800X3d
ASUS Tuf B650M plus Wifi
32GB DDR5 6000MHz T-Force Delta RGB
My current case isn’t quite enough for these components, especially with the 3080 chipset. I’m wondering if moving to the AM5 platform is worth it just to future-proof my build. I plan to visit the retailer where I bought the PC to ensure it stays within warranty and still has a few years left. The only difference between the AM4 and AM5 options is about $180.
I think it's best to choose the AM5 choice and trade in your existing equipment to cover the gap.
That's what I thought too, but now I believe everyone will mostly just need to upgrade their GPU. My 3080 seems more than enough for everything.
