I believe I need a fresh gaming keyboard but am unsure what to choose.
The last three I owned were from Razer, Logitech, and Corsair.
I’m trying to switch things up.
Right now I’m checking this link: https://steelseries.com/gaming-keyboards...o-tkl-2023
Since I’ve used a Steelseries mouse for more than ten years, I trust their products.
I haven’t tried any of their keyboards yet.
I can’t spend on a wireless model.
Are there other options I should consider?

Wooting
You're right about the RGB on a keyboard not boosting FPS in games.
But you can use almost any standard keyboard for gaming purposes. You can check out Keychron's, Ducky, or Asus (ROG) options.
To be honest, if I had more desk space, I'd have chosen a TKL keyboard—like the one you mentioned earlier.

I'm only online, so I assume these aren't cheap here. I could buy one on Ali Express for 700... but I wouldn't trust it to be genuine and it's out of my budget. The Steelseries can perform some of the tricks the site has. I wonder if the Asus Keyboard installs malware—I mean Armoury Crate... wow, I was right. I might consider them since they support IceCube. I should check if it works with their motherboards, though. You might want to offer me your old Microsoft keyboard, lol.

The keyboard looks great. I've used my Logitech G510 for around ten years and still enjoy the G keys. It's held up well despite being through several beer spills.

Asus hardware seems disappointing after the Armory Crate issue. Their keyboards don't work well with Icue, and it only functions properly with an Asus motherboard. The Steelseries also falls short, lacking a deal with Corsair unlike Asus. A review of the Asus Azoth keyboard shows that customization is great until the software interferes. Asus aimed to create top gaming and custom mech keyboards but ended up with Armoury Crate. It's a shame the hardware quality isn't better. These aren't bad, but the price is lower than Steelseries. There are no reviews for this model yet. Keychron offers a switch choice that’s easier, with three options available for their keyboard. Bananas appear to be the top pick.

I own the X4 and X6 boards with rubber domed keyboards. Microsoft updated the front panel with a mechanical keyboard, but in such a crowded market I suspect they haven’t introduced anything truly new. Perhaps they could.

I switched to the Keychron Q1 v2 and replaced the keycaps. The RGB is off, and I haven’t played much around it except typing. The Hotswap feature lets me rearrange key clusters as I wish.

I didn’t realize where you were when I posted earlier, lol. GST doesn’t assist with the items you need or have access to.

I'm trying to figure out the distinction between regular and knob versions of Keychron keyboards. It's not clear from what I understand the main difference is—the volume control knob—which seems unrelated. It could be about the pre-built models, but that doesn't seem to fit either. The presence of a physical knob on some models isn't unusual. People in review videos often praise having a knob, noting it's a novel feature. Some mention specific models from Lutfi around 14 years ago, suggesting it predates many others and wasn't mechanical.

There are also discussions about keyboard designs, such as the Microsoft Sidewinder X6, with reviews highlighting its unique features. Keyboard enthusiasts on geekhack.org suggest considering Banana keycaps for their quieter sound and gaming appeal.

The reviewer is weighing options for a number pad versus a full keyboard, noting the wide variety of sizes available and the upcoming release of different models. They mention that the GST tax increases the cost. They're considering purchasing a TKL 75% model or other variants with different key counts, possibly planning to buy before Christmas. They also plan to try new keycaps next year due to limited light transmission in the default ones and intend to wait for deliveries again.

Examines Asus... thinks about why this is problematic.
OMG
example: if you want to swap Insert and Delete positions on a keyboard, it's simple—just swap the keycaps.
You pick Insert and choose reassign function.
There’s no dropdown menu of functions; you press the key you want the new role for.
So now Insert becomes Del and then you try to rename Delete to Insert.
Next you select the Delete key and assign it again.
Pressing Insert key already has Del assigned, so you end up with two Del keys and Insert disappears?
This method feels confusing. It should offer a dropdown of all possible key assignments to avoid getting stuck. You lose functionality.
I don’t know if this issue has been resolved in nine months.
It seems the two keyboard manufacturers that dominate most ranking charts have faulty software.
I wish people would look closer... at least Razer is working on Synapse.
Switching between keyboards is frustrating.
Buying Keychron probably means I need new keycaps since the defaults are very different from what I have now.
Apex Pro is much easier—I can fine-tune the key actuation to suit my setup.

Every keyboard I see has its issues
Currently, when I check
NuPhy Halo96 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard
Gateron G Pro 2.0 Red Hot-swappable Switches 96% 99-Key ANSI Layout KOP Double-shot PBT Keycaps Backlit & Sidelit RGB Tri-mode Connectivity (2.4GHz/BT 5.0/Detachable USB-C To USB-A Cable) Up To 205Hrs Battery Life Aluminum Frame N-Key Rollover Support
nuphy.com.au
I haven’t received any negative feedback so far. It seems keycaps will need replacement eventually, though they don’t show through well. Overall, the battery life alone makes it worth considering, and many reviews encourage purchasing it.

One year anniversary reply (almost)
The only issue I’ve noticed with the keyboard is that Windows 11 claims it always has 100% battery, which isn’t true. It usually only shows this when my typing speed makes it seem like the battery is low. This happened recently; I charged it for about 12 hours and it didn’t improve. Restarting Windows fixed it. It could have been a low battery issue initially, affecting Bluetooth until the restart.

I realized the problem was related to Bluetooth—switching to wired mode worked fine, but with wired it was slow. After a restart, everything is normal again. I’m not sure if disabling or enabling Bluetooth on the PC helped.

Apart from that, everything else is fine. One of the plastic feet came off a few months ago, but I haven’t really noticed it. I managed to adjust the settings so the halo light stays off, which saves battery.

They upgraded my model recently, but it’s not enough to stop using this one. Happy camper so far!
