At this point the Deathrite Bird's AoE attack in the final area is tough to predict, so you have to dodge it. You can switch maps using R3/right stick. That wasn't a 50-hour process and I didn’t have to use an elevator every time I changed maps.
I just got it and am eager to test it out since I have arcane as a solid stat. The weapon skill feels similar to Sekiro's mortal draw. I initially enjoyed the katana, but soon moved away after discovering Bloodhound's Fang (it gives a nice boost

The latest patch significantly complicates many aspects, especially my blood creation! Fortunately, I ran it in a sandbox which keeps the older version available, though it’s limited to offline use and lacks bug fixes and other improvements. Building takes a long time, and they sometimes undo all that effort unexpectedly. Blood builds are powerful, but not as much as something like a Bloody Slash. On the plus side, Rivers of Blood has been patched, so I might upgrade and switch to that instead of my Blood Ucigatana.
