Stability issues seem to be linked to temperatures or BSODs. It's mentioned that prime95 for AVX instructions in later versions shouldn't be run, as temperatures are significantly higher than normal. Have you checked the temperatures under other conditions? I feel like everything was fine in terms of temperature until you started using prime95 above 26.6 and suspected a problem? Unless BSODs occurred?
not related but freezing problems occurred.
i use Startcraft 2, i experienced a freeze in start craft 2 after about 20 minutes. initially i thought it was a game issue.
i don’t have a graphics card installed, so i’m using the iGPU of 6700k. possibly memory pressure caused the problem, so i ran memtest86 from usb for 8 hours but no errors were found.
i tried various game settings to prevent freezing until i noticed that setting the affinity of the starcraft 2 process from 8 to just 4 cores would fix the issue.
this was frustrating, i had to adjust the affinity every time and it kept happening. i ran a prime95 test and realized my pc is unstable, which caused bsods. (i did the prime test years ago and it worked fine).
with a 100Mhz reduction, the problems seem resolved. now i don’t need to adjust affinity and can play at the highest graphics settings with 8 cores.
There would be a significant difference between them, depending on which graphics cards you choose.
