Hey there, I’ve got a new build that’s getting the PC ready in about 20-30 seconds before Windows even starts. The lights light up for CPU, then RAM, then everything goes dark and then it posts—lights come back and loading begins. I’ve confirmed RAM, CPU, and GPU are all fine, but I’m stuck on what to do next. Any advice would be great! Also, just a note about the specs: MSI Pro B650-P, Wi-Fi, Ryzen 7 7700X, RTX 4090, 32GB DDR5 at 4800MHz. Thanks!
Long-term memory training/POST times for Zen4 are typical and have been part of our experience since launch. Some boards see better results, others don’t. What specific RAM model is being used? Are you referring to a DDR5-4800 kit or just listing XMP/EXPO settings? If it’s native DDR5-4800, that wasn’t an ideal purchase. Does EXPO or XMP support matter? Usually turning off EXPO at least cuts boot time noticeably but may slow memory performance unless adjusted manually. On my X670E Taichi with EXPO enabled, memory training lasts 10–12 seconds (15 on the diagnostic LED), then a black screen appears for another 10–15 seconds before the logo and Windows animation appear. Disabling EXPO speeds it up considerably, but I won’t boot without properly configured RAM.
It's confirmed to be 4800 native, not the highest I've seen, and I plan to upgrade to 5600 or more soon. XMP is active. You're likely right—it might be related to memory training. I experienced a complete black screen for about 10 seconds, followed by a grey screen that lit up after 10-15 seconds, then the MSI logo appeared and everything resumed.
