Hello everyone. This week I began using a computer that had been stored in a box for roughly a year. I've observed that although it functions, it takes an unexpectedly long time to start—around 80 to 90 seconds after a cold boot or restart. I'm running an AMD 7900 on an MSI B650 Tomahawk motherboard. I've tried checking the BIOS settings for "Fast Boot" but couldn't locate it anywhere. Any advice you can provide would be very helpful.
This performance is typical for AM5 systems, and 80-90 seconds is quite reasonable. Early on with AM5, boot times were around 5 to 6 minutes. Upgrading your BIOS might further enhance startup speed for most motherboards.
I just installed the latest BIOS version from May 2024. Tech support from MSI said the update should complete in about 15 to 20 seconds.
Confirmed! Changed both options in BIOS to "enabled" instead of "auto." Ready in under 20 seconds.
