Seeing blocked pings on T-Mobile devices (phones and 5G home internet) is something others are experiencing too. One user reported MS Teams stopping and failing to connect, which I was able to recreate. Now five more people have had the same problem with MS Teams not connecting. When MS sends a ping, it checks connectivity with Microsoft before establishing a link. If there’s a problem, it assumes the servers aren’t reachable. After two hours of talking to T-Mobile, they confirmed pinging is no longer supported. I’m still unsure about this but wanted to check if others have encountered it. Testing other URLs also shows 100% failure on T-Mobile.

Yes. In the Midwest, I'm using my home internet. Pings began dropping last week. Other areas reported similar issues. It's frustrating since my Unifi router relies on ping for internet switching. I had to turn off the backup connection until it's fixed.

It clearly affected us. It seems to be active in the Phoenix region if you attempt it locally. I’m not sure any tech news outlet has covered this. Blocking a core protocol is definitely something tech folks would notice. You know many operations depend on ping for performance and connectivity checks. Linus didn’t even reference it.
