System won't POST ?
I sold the board to a customer who had an Asus TUF B660M D4 motherboard. While it worked fine in my PC, the same wasn't true for the other person's system. He attempted everything—resetting the CMOS and similar steps—but still faced issues. Both had the same RAM and CPU, though mine was a different version. His Z690 model boots perfectly, while mine only works with the F version.
verify the motherboard bios version and supported cpu for that system. It might require an upgrade to switch to another cpu model. Ensure ram compatibility—though this isn’t relevant in 2024, it’s still important to confirm. Also, inspect the psi, gpu, or other pcie devices, and check if there are any hdd or ssd issues causing boot failures. Hope you have a great troubleshooting day!
even a bad usb device can hold off the boot or front bad usb of the case ( safe boot kicks in from motherboard if something is whacky)
I sold a motherboard Asus Tuf b660M D4, it worked fine on my PC with an i5 12400F, and the buyer I sold it to had a similar setup except for a non-f version. He mentioned he tried resetting the CMOS and everything failed. The BIOS of the motherboard was updated, but it still posted on his machine. Why won’t it work on the BIOS version 2801?
or verify fans or argb if any, possibly many problems, but attempt to begin with the basics. nothing was connected except the necessary parts
It seems the setup works flawlessly on his Z690 board with identical configurations, so the issue isn't clear. Now that he brings the motherboard back, he doesn't have a CPU to test it with.
What CPU model were you testing? Please share your client CPU and motherboard specifications.
I got more details, he mentioned it boots and enters the window, but I misread him. It says when he goes inside the window, the picture freezes for no clear reason. He uses an i5 12400, I used 12400f, and the motherboard is Asus Tuf b660m with DDR4.
It should disable any CPU overclocking, verify GPU drivers and RAM memory (possibly lowering frequency), possibly indicating a high BIOS setting. The freezes might point to a CPU problem, or the shutdown could be due to overheating. It may be worth checking if cooling functions properly in BIOS or Windows, or simply reinstalling Windows regardless of the 12400 F or standard version.
