System will only start from BIOS after changes are applied
Lately had to replace some components on a system after a power outage disrupted something. Installed i7 12700, MSI PRO B760M-E, G Skill Ripjaws 16GB 3200. System is up and running but only boots into BIOS. I've verified the boot order and confirmed the CSM/UEFI is set to UEFI. The SSD appears healthy and is being backed up now. Is this because Windows isn't booting due to the new hardware? Should I reinstall Windows since the current one is OEM? Thanks for any advice! 😊
Thank you for your prompt response. I really value your quick reply.
I didn't realize your Windows is an OEM product, you won't be able to move it... I've run into trouble before about this, but that's okay. You don't have to pay the full price for a Windows key, and since you already own one but can't transfer it, there are affordable OEM keys available online.
It's not necessarily that you've caused any issues.
The low-cost Windows license keys are questionable and might not function properly.
They could also be used for financial fraud or other unusual purposes.
It's similar to observing someone in a BestBuy parking lot selling expensive TVs for a fraction of the price.
Really?
Yeah, you're right, there is no know how or where they got them from. It's just that I've seen $5 Windows 10 keys which work fine, and it's hard to tell someone to go spend well over $100 just to "do the right thing".
Would you suggest purchasing an SSD or RAM like that?
"Dude! Don't buy that $100 Samsung 970! This guy here sells 1TB Samsung drives for $10! Enjoy!!"
A proper Windows license will ensure your system runs smoothly for years.
If someone is offering a physical part at an extremely low price, it's probably a solen, which means you could apply the same logic to Windows keys. But since it's not a tangible item, it's acceptable because Microsoft sells OEM keys at reduced costs, and in some countries they might be as cheap as $5, which doesn't affect their validity.
