First time here... be gentle and don't laugh too loudly
System: Aorus x470 Ultra Gaming MB
BIOS: American Megatrends F2 3/14/2018
Ryzen 5 2400g
1Tb WD HDD — used for many years across various builds
Nvidia GTX 1050Ti
8Gb x2 RAM — system only displays 8, though it hasn't bothersed me much
Windows 10
Questions:
I believe it's the right time to replace the HDD with a Kingston FURY Renegade 2Tb M.2
What are your thoughts?
Update to Windows 11
The BIOS is outdated... should I update it before installing a fresh OS? Any suggestions?
I'm new to BIOS updates... what could go wrong?
Upgrading to Windows 11 and the new BIOS might finally make all RAM visible.
No need to explain why it's not showing now.
Is there a recommended sequence for these upgrades?
Should I update the BIOS before starting a new Windows install?
As mentioned, I've never updated a BIOS before.
Looking forward to your feedback

1. Yes, change from the HDD to an SSD.
2. Win 10 vs 11 has no impact on your RAM.
What specific RAM is this, and was it bought as a set?
3. Little reason to not update the BIOS.

I purchased it as a complete set of 2 8's DDR4
I didn’t really inspect it when I first configured the machine, and when I realized the issue later, I was too lazy to fix it. Having only eight units didn’t cause any problems during that time.

As said, there is no diff between Win 10 and 11 for this.
Might be the motherboard slot, might be a bad RAM stick. Might be one of them is not quite inserted all the way.

Yeah, there are a few important updates to consider. I wasn't too concerned at first, but I'll reposition it and pay closer attention now. Is there a specific version of the bio you're looking for?

BIOS - Choose the latest, non-beta release.
Follow the detailed guidelines closely. Certain stages might need completion.

Review the BIOS update instructions carefully, noting the required steps.
1. Apply the AMD Chipset Driver 18.10.20.02 or the most recent release.
2. Modify the BIOS to version F31 prior to F40 (or later).
3. Deploy the EC FW Update Tool (B19.0517.1 or subsequent versions).
4. Proceed with updating the BIOS to the latest nonbeta release - F65d.

It turns out my CPU isn't compatible with Windows 11 (Ryzen 5 2400g). So I have to update the BIOS (press F2) for a new processor, even though it keeps improving.
Upgrade options...
Ryzen 5 5600g -- $140
DDR3200 2x16 -- $52
WD Black SN770 2TB -- $120
COMBINED -- $312
Commnets...
