I switched from an RTX 3070 to the 4080 Founder's Edition recently, and now my system restarts unexpectedly during basic operations. This issue doesn’t appear when I’m playing games. Details: R9 5950X with PBO on 64GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz, 4TB WD Black NVMe + 2TB 970 Evo RTX 4080 FE, plus a Cablemod 12VHPWR adapter (3x 8-pin). I’ve run every stress test imaginable. No crashes during Furmark (45 mins), Prime95 (20 mins), Cinebench R23, Blender benchmarks, Windows Mem Diagnostic Tool—everything checks out. The freezes seem to happen even when the GPU isn’t busy, like after browsing YouTube and then a sudden reboot. I disabled PBO and reset everything in BIOS, but that didn’t fix it. Also, I performed a clean Nvidia driver install (not Express), yet performance remains unchanged.

I've got the newest BIOS from ASUS. It seems the problem could be with my power adapter. I'm planning to replace it.

Power strips acting as surge protectors wear out over time. It’s wise to replace them eventually. Make sure they have enough joules for your needs.
