System unexpectedly powers off without warning.
Hi, after about three months of using my new setup, it keeps shutting down unexpectedly. It happens not just during gameplay or when the PC is under load, but also during idle periods and even when just booting up. Initially, I thought it might be due to power supply issues or overheating, but I’ve ruled those out. Normally my system runs smoothly for hours of gaming without problems, yet there are days when it crashes repeatedly—sometimes after just a couple of minutes, other times after longer intervals, sometimes even hours, whether idle or running. I can’t rely on this setup anymore. I shared some screenshots with temperature readings in idle mode. The only noticeable issue is the chipset temperature reaching around 78°C during idle. I’ve tried applying new thermal paste on the CPU (Artic Silver 5) and followed a video guide from Linus, but it doesn’t seem to be dust-related since everything is brand new. Anyone have experience with this situation?
What cooler are you using? The 78C idle temperature is really high. It seems the CPU might be overheating or the board could be shutting down due to thermal issues. You should probably fix the cooling problem first. Edit: I noticed you mentioned a chipset on the 78C. What are your system temperatures when it's running?
Kraken x72 works fine. Temperatures are stable around 78°C. I have screenshots, but I can’t share them. VRM temps stay near 45°C, and the fans kick in once they hit about 60°C.
It's tough to give a clear answer. I've noticed several problems with your board. At work, my available time is limited. I'm not sure about the thermal limit of the chipset, but even 78°C feels too high for a 15W chipset. Check the fan settings—make sure it starts up on the chipset. If not, try connecting a fan directly to the chipset area and see if that improves things.
The problem centered around the PSU Corsair AX1200i, as many users reported similar issues. It appears these power supplies are fundamentally flawed. Here’s the link to the discussion on Corsair forums: https://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?p=1014255
