System stops working after you halt gameplay or finish a stress test.
It operates smoothly during play, browsing, or tasks; even after stress testing with AIDA64. However, it crashes or shuts down when I close the game and the PC cools. This issue began after cleaning the system. The cooler came loose, bending a few pins—after repairs it still has problems. Also, getting it to start required adjusting the cooler screws until it powered on. Windows memory testing showed no issues. Disabling PBO didn’t help.
Specs: R5 5600X with stock RTX 3070 (2x8GB @3200MT/s), ASRock B450 steel motherboard, EVGA 650W PSU. Any advice would be appreciated!
Even after repairs, those CPU pins are quite delicate and likely cause the instability. If you're unlucky, the connection might also be broken. You can try diagnosing the issue further. If you have another CPU or can ask a friend for one to test, proceed carefully.
The problem might be with the CPU pins or the thermal paste not sealing properly. Have you cleaned the CPU and re-applied the thermal paste?
Yes I did. The cpu has no visible damage. I just tried undervolting and it still crashes when I end the stress test even if it didn't even reach 70°.
