System stops working after extended or sudden gaming sessions.
I've noticed a problem where after extended gaming sessions the screen turns black or greyish while I can still hear sounds. I understand it's not due to overheating since my components are running at 50-70°C. I've tried reinstalling graphics drivers, downloading older versions, adjusting settings to lower speeds, or even reducing overclocked GTX 960 settings back to stock levels. (This hasn't occurred before—it just began.) My system details can be found here: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/markoBiceps/saved/4rmcCJ
The only suggestion I have is to replace the power supply unit. It seems your issue began when I increased the system capacity; my 650W model couldn't cope and it stopped working properly. I’d advise upgrading to at least 600W, preferably 650W for all your components.
Too many audio drivers could lead to conflicts. Additional details about the hardware might assist further.
Thanks for the note. It might be related to the sound driver configuration. You have built-in audio and headphone drivers, plus NVIDIA High Definition drivers via HDMI, and possibly other unspecified components. I’d try turning off or removing the headphone drivers first to check the issue. Additionally, in the BIOS, would disabling on-board graphics be necessary instead of adjusting general settings?
NVM resolved the problem. My setup had too many devices on one power strip: two monitors, a 200W speaker system, two lamps, a computer, modem, and a phone charger. Feels great man ;_; EDIT: The issue began after I relocated and didn’t have all items connected to the same outlet. Updated June 4, 2016 by markoBiceps
