it would be pretty gross, like a massive mess of outdated files, similar to the state of my Kingston drive. everyone said it was fine, except CrystalDiskMark showed it was slow at 3mb/s… and user tests called it broken. I didn’t buy warranty, but I still needed some stuff. It cost only $20, which is what you get for the price. Probably Amazon would have given me a refund. Yeah, I’m sure Samsung’s “magician” couldn’t fix my problem, but I gave it a shot—it was terrible, full of confusing info, super slow, and it didn’t even show what I wanted. Never uninstalled anything faster!

I've achieved three milestones since my last update. I contacted Samsung and they’re open to sending me a replacement drive, even though Samsung Magician indicates everything is normal—only after they get the drive. That timeline won’t fit my needs (about two weeks), so I’ll purchase a new NVMe SSD, replace the old one, return the old drive for warranty, and plan what to do with the new unit. The next update is important—I’ll make sure to share it once the new drive is installed.

Other updates: My RAM test came back flawless. My HDD shows only good and excellent sectors. I have a concern though—during testing I fell asleep midway, even though I enabled the “prevent sleep mode” option. After waking up, my results improved noticeably. Could this be due to the interruption during testing or the scanning area? Thanks for your assistance. I’ll keep an eye out for an update after installing the new drive.

The installation was tricky at first—especially with the TPM setup—but I managed to get it done. Initially, I faced some TPM-related challenges, so I started with Windows 10. After enabling TPM in BIOS and upgrading, I encountered a few drive folder problems, so I reinstalled Windows 11. Most things are working well, but I need your assistance with a few concerns. #3 is the most critical. #2 is just an interesting tidbit.

1. While installing the SSD NVMe, I removed the heat spreader and noticed bubbles that weren’t there before. I tried flattening them with a clean, alcohol-washed screwdriver tip. It seemed unnecessary, but I did it. I also spotted tiny hairs in spots I hadn’t touched and some where I had. I carefully pulled out the larger ones using a plastic piece. Since I didn’t have spare heat spreaders, I’m wondering if I should replace them. The temperature is around 33°C with some apps running and Chrome tabs open. By the way, my 6600 XT is at 47°C under similar conditions. Should I switch to a different thermal paste?

2. I resolved one issue, but it’s worth mentioning. Windows didn’t detect my Ethernet connection. A recent update fixed it—possibly related to my new fiber internet.

3. I still experience mouse lag when using Chrome or browsing files. My Logitech G-Hub is new, and I’ve tried other mice without getting the correct drivers. I’m updating Windows as soon as possible. The cursor sometimes disappears (hovering over text or search bars). What might be causing this? The new drive marks all sectors as perfect. There’s also a strange issue in File Explorer where scrolling down doesn’t work with the scroll wheel. Resizing the window helps, but it still crops up occasionally. I suspect an OS-level problem that can’t be fixed. I haven’t seen lag in File Explorer or PDFs before, but usage hasn’t been high yet.

It's wireless. The other mouse I tried is wired. I also have more details. My first crash happened after installing the new software. My main monitor shut down, then the secondary did too, but my music kept playing. After a while, I turned off and on the monitors, and eventually the secondary took over as primary and the music stopped. It later restarted. Switching between the monitors helped it start again. I also received an AMD crash report form, which I completed with my email included. I’m hoping they’ll respond. I’m curious if these mouse problems are connected to the GPU. I definitely have the latest AMD Adrenalin drivers.

It seems like the problem might be hardware-related or tied to BIOS settings. Are you still using that Barracuda drive? Even though it sounds simple, you could try some userbench tests—this test is really good at spotting issues—but you’ll need multiple runs since it sometimes takes a while to detect them.
