System stopped working for 20 to 25 seconds when it woke up from sleep
I've noticed a sudden issue with the sleep mode on my second desktop. It had worked smoothly for a few years, but recently it started waking up unexpectedly. My thoughts are focused on updating to Windows 10 (Pro 64-bit) and running an MSI installer for my graphics card. After turning the computer back on from sleep, both monitors turn on easily, and I can move the mouse without issues. However, when I try to open applications like Chrome or Explorer, it takes about 20-25 seconds before anything responds. Eventually, the windows appear and everything functions normally. What steps should I take to diagnose this delay? It seems some processes might be causing the unresponsiveness. I've checked the Services window for resource-heavy tasks after sleep, but found nothing obvious. I uninstalled the Windows update from last night, yet progress hasn't been made. Both drives show excellent S.M.A.R.T. data, and there are no device manager errors. I ran a chkdsk /f and everything appears fine.
After several attempts to fix the issue, it seems the problem might relate to the chipset driver. Asus no longer provides downloadable versions... That's a bit disappointing since ASRock and Gigabyte still offer older driver links. My motherboard is an Asus Rampage IV Black Edition. In Event Viewer I see the message "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort2, was issued." I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps except updating the chipset driver, as I can't locate a source for it. The Device Manager lists a generic AHCI driver. Both system drives show perfect health in CrystalDiskInfo. Samsung Magician was installed to test the OS SSD, and everything appears normal—latest firmware applied, Windows updates completed, newest graphics driver installed. The sfc /scannow scan shows no problems.
