5 year old home built desktop, upgraded to Windows 11 about 3 weeks ago. Since doing that, it will seemingly randomly occasionally hang. No keyboard/mouse response, no response to control + alt + delete. Pressing and holding the power button for 7 seconds won't force shutdown either. The only thing that works is to press the reset button on the case. Yesterday for the first time it hung with the monitors turned on, before it would always happen after they turned off (the computer stays on 24/7, theoretically) so I couldn't even tell if my computer had just turned itself off. When upgrading to Windows 11, I also updated my motherboard BIOS to the latest version. Pulled the event viewer log. Each one gets an Error ID 6008. Apparently the system is logging the time at which it hangs as the shutdown time, with the error posting whenever it is that I notice and restart the computer. Usually happens when I'm not using the computer. We're currently averaging about once every 2 days. Error ID 6008 may result from CPU overheating or PSU problems. Have you refreshed your GPU, CPU, and chipset drivers?

There seems to be an option that eliminates the need for this step, and the original poster suggests running the command with admin privileges via cmdline.

We detected some damaged files and repaired them. We'll wait a few days to see if it resolved the issue.

No problem at all. This has been recurring every day over the past three days. I re-loaded the AMD Chipset upgrader just for you and received an error in the log, along with a notification from AMD Adrenalin that the chipset update didn’t succeed. MSI © (DC:34) [15:34:50:025]: Note: 1: 1708 MSI © (DC:34) [15:34:50:025]: Product: AMD_Chipset_Drivers -- Installation operation failed. MSI © (DC:34) [15:34:50:026]: Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: AMD_Chipset_Drivers. Product Version: 6.01.25.342. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.. Installation success or error status: 1603. While trying to fix error 1603, I ran a minimal startup and turned off Windows Defender.

I assume the upgrade refers to moving from Windows 10 to Windows 11. If that's the case, just install either version fresh, since this process often encounters problems. For my opinion, I suggest going with Windows 10.
