I attempted to remove the CMOS battery and pressed the power button several times. The boot time increased noticeably. After checking for a few minutes, it displayed a black screen instead of freezing or showing BSOD with an uncorrectable error. The screen didn’t appear when using the keyboard light, but it did after holding the power button for about 30 seconds before turning it off. It’s unclear if the BIOS reset was possible initially, and the problem persists. Regarding CPU temperatures, you can use monitoring tools to track them.

You can utilize a free tool such as HWinfo. Once reset, verify the BIOS settings and confirm XMP is enabled. This often requires having the device nearby for testing. Also, could you tell me what laptop model you're using?

The latest official bios is version 2.03, but your system reports v2.06. That’s normal—make sure you’re using the correct version. I’ll follow up once I have the ambient temperature details.

On the Acer site, 2.06 is shown as the most recent release. That should be acceptable.

The system's base CPU temperature stays between 48°C and a maximum of 74°C under 14% utilization, with Chrome and HWInfo running simultaneously.

It seems like the situation isn't clearly linked to the low load, but it might help to refresh the CPU and GPU. Consider replacing the CMOS battery as a precaution. Also, try disabling the graphics card temporarily to see if performance improves. Make sure to test with another memory module just to be sure.

Repasting and installing a CMOS replacement along with a memory module might require a day or two. I’ll need to get those parts first, so I’m disabling my dedicated GPU via Device Manager now. Let’s check.

Just froze after about five minutes in Skyrim. I also noticed that during BSODs it never exceeds 0% and doesn’t restart by itself—so I have to manually force shut down by holding the power button for thirty seconds.

the stats and temperatures seem normal for a laptop in this situation. it reached high temps and boosts but then stabilized, which is typical. i haven’t noticed anything unusual before, so it might just be a variation. you might want a new CMOS battery and consider replacing the CPU paste.

Reprocessed the thermal dye, can we detach from the external HDD to verify if the storage problem is resolved and see if temperatures improve after reprocessing?
