The laptop experiences random freezing during startup and after shutdown, triggering a BSOD marked with an unrecoverable error. I ran memtest86 to check for RAM problems, but it passed all tests without errors. However, the system freezes unpredictably during the test runs—sometimes before, sometimes after the first pass. Windows memory diagnostics also showed no issues. Given it cleared multiple passes with zero errors, it seems the RAM might still be functional. But since the freezing happens inconsistently and audio cues appear when it stops working, a RAM fault remains possible. The specs indicate a 8GB SK Hynix module, which could support stable performance if healthy.

I use memtest inside Windows or from a thumb drive as needed.

I connected via USB recently, then ran the Windows utility first, followed by MemTest86 from USB. The system stopped working during operation.

We can eliminate software and driver issues. Have you tested the laptop with each RAM stick separately? Is it running stock or have you modified the processor? If you changed it, the built-in memory controller might be the problem. It’s unlikely the drive is the cause since the test was run from an external source.

I've tested both RAM sticks separately, and both faced the same problem after 10 minutes in Valorant. I initially lowered the voltage earlier for overheating issues, aiming for -140.6 mV, but recently the issue resurfaced. Now Windows has wiped the drive, and I haven't adjusted the voltage again.

Start by cleaning your laptop. Undervolting can be dangerous on laptops unless the BIOS is unlocked. It also changes memory controller voltages, which might cause issues and disrupt the default fan settings. To fix things, can your laptop be opened? Unplug it, remove the battery and the CMOS battery, press the power button a few times, then reconnect and restart. I think your voltage adjustments might still be active, so resetting everything is a good idea. Have you checked if the latest BIOS version is installed?

I noticed the laptop was serviced recently, so it should be in good shape. It seems I haven’t updated the BIOS yet—I’ll check it out and attempt the battery test.

Your problem started once you returned the laptop for cleaning.

Initially, I thought a simple cleanup would resolve the problem since the issue wasn't detected

Check if your processor is cooling better or if it's still getting hot. How does the room temperature feel around you?
