System shutting down during high-performance operations
System shutting down during high-performance operations
It might relate to memory or the motherboard aging, especially if the problem stems from XMP settings. Given your system's age and Intel architecture, XMP should have minimal impact on performance. A straightforward solution would be disabling XMP and letting the system run normally.
Over the past several years, XMP has caused more problems during gaming than any other issue in my systems. I stopped using it around seven years ago. While checking the XMP profile and adjusting timings manually can work for some users, I didn’t bother because I don’t require those extra frames for casual play or competitive situations.
Unfortunately trying a DDU and updating drivers didn’t resolve the problem when XMP was enabled. Yes, it’s strange because I bought 3200Mhz RAM, which isn’t too costly, but it still randomly stops at that speed. I also face the issue of wanting higher performance if possible. I’ll keep XMP off until I can properly diagnose and fix it with some additional parts or tools. It’s not a major concern, just hoping the fix won’t be expensive.
The issue wasn't XMP. I'm not sure why my PC suddenly pretended to be something it wasn't, but it's now crashing again.
Great suggestions, appreciated. It was something straightforward that caught my attention. The main point is it seems effective even at a reduced power setting... However, I reset it to full capacity and it still functions. 220W at maximum output. I'll continue testing and update you. Thanks once more for the guidance.
It seems the GPU struggles under load even at reduced power settings. You might want to check if pulling it off resolves the issue.
The GPU failed to power on despite all troubleshooting attempts. No changes in PCIe slot or cables resolved the issue. Considering a complete rebuild seems necessary. Appreciate your assistance, though. Many similar problems have appeared before but never fully fixed—seemingly recurring until they vanish again. It looks like something fundamental is wrong. I’d prefer replacing the entire PC and using this one only as a low-priority home server.
