System shuts down upon attempting to launch RAM at 3200 MHz
Hello, I recently purchased a monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate. My PC seemed to be running sluggishly possibly due to the monitor's higher resolution compared to my previous setup. I attempted to boost my RAM speed to 3200MHz, which is its rated capacity. My motherboard can handle up to 4400MHz RAM and the CPU supports 3200MHz. When I chose the D.O.C.P. standard in AI Tweaker, set it to 3200MHz and saved/reset, the system would restart three times before returning to its original state. After that adjustment, I managed to reach around 2800MHz, but the current speed is still at 2133MHz. I’m not sure what’s happening. I searched YouTube extensively and didn’t find similar issues reported by others. My BIOS is version 4901. Hardware: Asus ROG Strix B450-F II AMD Ryzen 5700G at 4.4GHz, G.Skill Trident Z Neo RAM 3200MHz (this is what I’m aiming for), OS: Windows 11.
they mention a speed of XMP (Intel), usually it matches the DOCP, but sometimes the RAM might only work at 3000 and you might need to increase the voltage slightly.
I faced a tricky RAM situation with my 5900X build running the Asus Tuf B550-PLUS. At first, I tried a Ballistix kit but realized it wasn't compatible with Asus' QVL for this model and was unreliable. Problems began after a hard shutdown with fans open, followed by freezing in sleep mode, no-video POSTs every few cold starts, and occasional crashes. The DIMMs worked fine, but another board and processor shared the same issues. I switched to the recommended RAM from each board's QVL for the specific processor, and the issues disappeared quickly. A few remaining hiccups were fixed by turning off sleep mode. I've had similar experiences on three systems, two of which resolved with QVL-compliant RAM. The third I don't use and haven't tested yet, but others have noticed this pattern. It seems Ryzen boards are sensitive to sleep mode and RAM. Worth noting that my board's DOCP detected those DIMMs at different speeds (20-40-40-40) compared to the QVL's 16-18-18-36. Setting the latter would block POSTs with 3200MHz RAM, but the former timings seem fine. I suggest checking your board manufacturer's RAM QVL for your exact board and processor combination. If it's missing, consider disabling sleep mode.
Found the answer everyone was looking for! Just a small mistake with the channels.
