SPECS MOBO - ASRock AB350 PRO4 CPU - Ryzen 5 1600 GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 1050ti RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3200 PSU - EVGA 500w CASE - NZXT S340 Mid Tower STORAGE - SanDisk SSD Plus Solid State Drive(240gb Boot Drive) and a WD Blue PC HDD 3.5"(1TB). Most of the time, when I launch an app it restarts. I even played a full Valorant match without any issues until I finished and closed the program. I also think the GPU wasn’t the cause because I replaced it with a GTX 1660ti 6GB and the problem continued. When booting Windows, it keeps repairing my drive; the check disk in CMD shows no issues (drive health at 89% over several years). During game updates, my drive usage reached maximum then fluctuated repeatedly. I re-applied thermal paste, suspecting CPU overheating, but temperatures remained normal. Although I bent a few pins on the CPU edges after dropping it, I managed to fix it in February 2023. I updated my BIOS to the latest version and believe the PC still restarts occasionally. My power consumption spikes significantly when applications open, reaching high levels that seem excessive. I’m confident there’s no malware present, as I use antivirus, adblocker, and download cautiously. I’m 90% sure my RAM isn’t the problem since it was purchased by my brother. Thank you for your time. UPDATE: Just replaced my PSU on August 1, 2023 by Ekyrosu. More Info

It seems the SSD might be causing some issues, and I'm curious about whether Windows is installed on your SSD or HDD.

I’ve had a similar issue with a friend’s computer. Their power supply unit was the problem. I checked their system using my own PSU, and it functioned properly again.

Placed on an SSD. Initially on my HDD since I misplaced my SSD during PC cleaning, recovered it and wiped it to move my Windows setup to the SSD.

Consider upgrading your power supply to ensure optimal performance for your 1660ti 6GB.

I believe 500W should be sufficient since the 1660 Ti isn't that different from a 3090, and your CPU is relatively low power. Upgrading to something like 550W or 600W would add stability and reliability, which wouldn't hurt. If you want extra peace of mind, look for a PSU with at least bronze efficiency certification. I own a 550W bronze Corsair CV550 that's performing well even with an 1650W setup.

I noticed the Corsair RM750e with full modular support and 80+ gold rating at 100. It seems like a great choice since my existing PSU isn’t modular, limiting future upgrades.

Choose a power supply that can handle future upgrades. A 600-650W unit works well now and should last longer.

Turn off XMP and try again. These processors don’t handle speeds beyond 2933 MHz well; the best are around 2666, while some high-end models (especially with quality RAM) can reach 3000–3200 MHz on suitable boards.
