System shuts down repeatedly during startup.
I recently added a new graphics card, but the system would restart when I tried to start it. It functions properly with built-in graphics, yet shuts down after turning it off. I searched online for solutions but found no helpful results. My machine is an old Dell server from 2013 (PowerEdge T110). Could anyone explain what might be causing this issue? Here’s a breakdown of the parts and their statuses: - CPU: Intel Xeon x3430 (outdated) - Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S (new) - Motherboard: Dell V52N7 (old) - GPU: PNY 4GB Dual Fan GeForce GTX 1650 (new) - RAM: 4x Hynix 1GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600E - 9-10-D0 (outdated) - Storage: Seagate BarraCuda 2TB ST2000DM008 (new) - Power Supply: Corsair CX750M (new) The GTX 1650 is connected via a PCIe G2x8 slot. From what I’ve read, the motherboard is likely the main problem. Since my case has the board on the side panel, I might need a compatible replacement or a new case. If replacing the board is necessary, should I prioritize finding one with the right slots or purchase a new case and board separately? Thank you very much.
Oh… sandy bridge. I haven’t heard about one in a while… Sounds like a boot loop, maybe. Regarding the comment, it really stood out to me. The x8 socket should work fine. The 1650 isn’t strong enough to overload pcie3 x8 either—probably not even pcie3 x4. Still close. Yeah, Dell tends to be that way. You’d likely need the exact same Dell board unless you planned a full rebuild. A whitebox isn’t something I’d consider. If you’re aiming for a new build, modern options are usually easier to find. People often disassemble old business computers and separate their parts.
Did you verify the CMOS battery? It may not be providing sufficient voltage to maintain BIOS configurations. This should be a straightforward process.
